What is “bleed” and why does it matter?Updated 2 hours ago
When we print and produce wall art, we use something called bleed. Bleed is the extra image area that extends past the final “front-facing” edge of the artwork so the design looks clean and continuous after production.
Why we use bleed
Bleed helps ensure:
the artwork looks seamless on the finished product
there are no unexpected blank edges caused by trimming and stretching
the final piece looks intentional and professional
This is especially important for canvas, because the artwork is stretched over a wooden frame (stretcher bars). Depending on the size, additional support bars may be added for stability, which is part of how canvases are constructed.
What you might notice
Because the image continues beyond the front face:
details near the edge of the design may wrap slightly around the sides
the front-facing view stays clean and centered
Good to know
The website size refers to the finished product dimensions you receive. For multi panel canvas, spacing between panels is 1 inch, and the listed size is based on the full layout measurement.
